About addiction and temptation

Our new world, as the saying goes, is full of quick gratification, full of temptation and oversaturated in neon colors. That one or the other gives in to temptation once too often and thus slips into addiction is not hardly surprising.
There is probably no market that does not represent a danger for addiction. Be it our food, computer games, series, social media, cannabis, heroin, tranquilizers, buying clothes.
I myself have been addicted to cigarettes for ten years, to which green crumbs were added at some point and in no time I was caught in a circle. While I actually hardly do that with the green cigarettes anymore, tobacco butts dominate my everyday life. And I'm starting to feel the consequences of that, too.
Addictions know spectrums, substances know varying consequences, in the end I am firmly convinced, one should live out his cravings in moderation and above all: enjoy.
There are quite a few normal groups of friends who just want to be numb and liberated after a long week at work. Drugs and alcohol in excessive consumption are known to be damn harmful. But at what point does excessive consumption begin? Personally, I would question the motive for consumption first and foremost. As soon as you understand whether it's curiosity, expansion of consciousness, fun or repression, then you can perhaps better assess it.
I've had great experiences, especially in the party scene, but I've always noticed that there was also a certain dreariness and sense of escape in the air. Escape from everyday life, from the head. On the one hand, that's liberation, but on the other hand, it's at a cost. Because the party always has an end, perhaps even an unpleasant aftertaste.
Overcoming addictions is hard. So is resisting temptations. But I wish for my personal development to be free of addictions, to be able to perceive life even more intensely.
To everyone out there who is struggling with a serious addiction: I wish you all the strength and love you deserve to overcome it!
Addictions are absolutely not uncommon in our society. In some cases, addicts go undetected for years because they are good at hiding their use.  There is still a lot to discuss about this topic, but that was part one on the subject of "addiction and temptation".
